welcome to the drawing v blog.

this blog serves as an online resource for the students currently in drawing v, at the art academy of cincinnati, as well as for any other wandering creative-type searching for fresh ideas in contemporary art.

drawing v at the academy involves a process of encouraging more freedom, responsibility & personal decision-making in each student; it introduces students to concepts, roles, processes & practices that characterize contemporary drawing.  the goal is to support each student in working toward both a personal & general definition of contemporary drawing, as well as to put contemporary drawing in context with their own work as well as with contemporary art in general.

for the next several weeks, we will be seeing five presentations on contemporary drawing topics, viewing artists who are associated with each, and discussing their concepts, techniques, and processes, as well as why they are important to contemporary drawing.   students will choose 5 issues to focus on throughout the course, presenting work that reflects each of the five, one per critique period.
